MCM Kitchen Remodel | Highland Park, Pittsburgh

PROCESS

EngineHouse provided general contractor and fabrication services for the remodel of the mid-century kitchen in this unique home, originally built in 1959. The custom cabinetry in three finishes was a core focus of this project, along with replacing the outdated windows with a new patio slider to create better circulation from the deck into the kitchen and living room.

FINISHED PRODUCT

Sequenced white oak veneer (matched with meticulous care) boasts grain continuity across the pantry cabinet wall and from floor to ceiling. Meanwhile, the minimalist upper cabinets echo the quartz countertops, and a green backsplash subtly converses with the original period tile still present in other areas of the home.

Custom white oak floating shelves with integrated LED strip lights showcase the homeowners’ ceramic work. An integrated beverage fridge, appliance garage, and other custom storage solutions throughout help keep the counters clear while maintaining the utility of the reimagined space.
